About
A bit of History…
Bogbain Adventure and Heritage Farm started in 2004 as a very basic family visitor centre. It’s grown organically over the years adding new services and activities every few months. Our aim was to create something a wee bit different. We aspire to becomiong a visitor attraction which will entertain, enlighten and also promote the Highlands of Scotland and its traditions. So if you’ve wondered why we have an Antique Accordion Museum on the same site as a 25 acre quad bike course, hopefully this will help explain! For every action-man-style activity we provide, such as the quad biking, clay pigeon shooting, archery and digger driving, we’re trying to make sure we’ve got an arts class, a traditional music session or a concert. We’re also passionate about our local food. We try and create all our dishes on site using the best local ingredients we can source. We stock a large range of local produce in our farm shop. In 2007 the farmshop and restaurant won “Best New Business” at the Highlands and Islands Food and Drink Awards. Later that year the facility won “Best New Business” at the Highland Tourism Awards. However, we realise that as we stand today, we are only one third of the way towards our dream.
To that end we’re adding on some new features this year. Our second music festival “Northern Roots” will be held in the weekend of 4,5 and 6th June 2010. This will feature a great selection of traditional, roots and country artists and will hopefully develop into a yearly fixture. The other great addition will be the arrival of “All Creatures Great and Small” a collection of rare and exotic reptiles, snakes and spiders belonging to Nick Martin. Nick’s enthusiasm for conservation and ecological matters is second to none and he almost personifies the ideas we have about the place. I hope you find something of interest on the site and we’d welcome all feedback and ideas.
